From my soccer coach playing me entire games to all of my friends joining cheer, track & field was the perfect fit for me when running the mile in P.E. was my favorite thing to do. Attending a private Christian school meant that we didn't have a cross country program. Bravely, I asked my athletic department if we could have one. With that, I started our cross country program: a boy I liked & my best friend. Now, it's a full program. My coaches that knew little about running, encouraged me and supported my dreams.
I attended Azusa Pacific University and thrived under my college coach, Preston Grey. As a professional, I ran for ASICS Mammoth Track Club for 4 years prior to the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials under Andrew Kastor, who helped me become a marathoner. To this day, I believe my husband & coach,"home team," family help me to thrive and grow as an athlete. As much as my career as a marathoner has been filled with climbing mountains and coming out of challenging valleys, it really has been about people, relationships, and using my running to serve as a platform to serve Christ and share my faith, as well as become the best version of myself that I can. You can find me coaching at McKirdy Trained & supporting Seth as my coach and the coach of Team Totten.

I started running because I wanted to steal lots of bases. I grew up as a baseball player and when I got to high school, I set my sights on breaking the league record for most stolen bases in a season. In my mind, to steal bases I needed to get faster at running. In order to get faster, I went out for cross country and fell in love with not just running but the day-in day-out process of training and improving everyday; I never went back to baseball.
I'm still running to this day because the daily grind and challenge presents a new goal to chase and works towards. I train because I like to race and compete. Some people enjoying running for running, but I enjoy the challenge of racing and competition. As I've gotten older, I've adjusted my goals. While once I dreamed about Olympic teams, now I work to be the best version of myself everyday as a husband, friend, and athlete.
